BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Cape Women's Forum is a non-profit organization incorporated under Section 21 of the Companies Act, 1973.

It was established in 1991 to address the needs of workers in the deciduous fruit industry. Since then, training interventions were delivered to virtually all areas of agriculture, including grain, sugarcane, citrus, vegetables, poultry, wine and table grapes.

The programs and courses of the Cape Woman's Forum were developed after an intensive study done in cooperation with the Department of Sociology of the University of Stellenbosch to determine the need of farming communities. The objective of these training interventions is to empower workers through education and training. This empowerment, through knowledge and skills, contributes to the prosperity of individuals and their communities.
